The first Cree Cup China University LED Lighting Design and Innovation Competition ended successfully

Shanghai, China, March 30, 2010 – After the seven-month fierce competition, the first “Cui Rui Cup----China University LED Lighting Design and Innovation Competition” jointly organized by China Lighting Association and Cree "(hereinafter referred to as the contest) ended successfully. At the China Semiconductor Lighting Technology and Application Forum held this afternoon, the organizing committee of the competition held an awarding ceremony for the winning works.

Since its official launch in September 2009, the competition has attracted the active participation of colleges and universities, and has received wide attention from all walks of life, and has won close attention and strong support from relevant associations, scientific research institutions, media and manufacturers. In the first three months of the competition, nearly 1,000 college students from hundreds of colleges and universities across the country (including Taiwan) actively participated in the competition; in the subsequent preliminary stage, the organizing committee collected nearly 200 individual and team works. After review by the expert review team, 50 pieces of finalists were selected.

After more than two months of intense production preparation, the finalists submitted their physical works to the organizing committee. Finally, the final winning work is judged from the aspects of creativity, practicality, market prospects, performance of LED performance, energy saving and environmental protection, practical ability and aesthetics. Recently, a professional judging panel composed of LED industry experts, scholars and industrial design / lighting application experts, won the final award-winning works. The judging meeting was presided over by Liu Shengping, vice chairman and secretary general of China Lighting Association. Professor Li Tienan of the Institute of Physics of China Academy of Building Research was appointed as the leader of the judging panel. At the same time, the experts who participated in the review included: Dou Linping, Secretary General of China Lighting Association, Tang Guoqing, General Manager of Career China Market, and any developer and media person in Xiamen LED Promotion Center.

Taiwan’s successful universities Huang Yizhang, Du Weizheng, and Ni Yuxi’s work “Lighting to Share” won the first prize of the competition, and the team won a prize of RMB 20,000 from Career. The work uses a magnet connection to form a variety of lighting modes. The sample is made in an exquisite manner, which is consistent with the design. The overall focus is on the lighting effect of the lamp, and the LED's luminous characteristics are effectively utilized. (Editor's note: The design description fails to clearly indicate the purpose of the work, the desk lamp? Also mentioned in the original text, "Using magnetic force combined with the light source module and the light stand", it is not clear. It is impossible to go to observe in person, do not understand The mechanism is really regrettable! However, it is on display at the China International Hotel and Architectural Lighting Exhibition.)

The "Solar LED Multi-Function Butter Lamp" submitted by Tibet University Jiang Lin, Liu Yanliang, Chen Yu and Zhen Ma Qu Zong and the "Light Hearing" submitted by Gu Weiwei of Tongji University won the second prize of the competition respectively. At the same time, the two participating teams received a bonus of RMB 10,000 from Career. “Solar LED Multi-Function Butter Lamp” effectively combines LED light source and solar power supply with national lamps, has strong local characteristics of Tibet, and expands the lighting function of lamps. The luminaire has a unique design on the structural support and can incorporate functions such as charging the phone into the work. "Lighting" uses sound control technology to make full use of the LED characteristics. In the design, it takes into account the special needs of the deaf people, and is innovative, convenient and practical. (Editor's note: These award-winning works, both in terms of appearance and function introduction, are clear at a glance. In the end, the university here, the ideas are the same.)

As a behind-the-scenes hero, the instructors of each participating team gave great support to the design work. In recognition of their outstanding contributions in the competition, the organizing committee specially awarded two "Best Cultivating Talent Awards". Prof. Hao Luoxi from Tongji University and Professor Yuan Zongnan from the Design School of Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan won the award.

In the course of the competition, Cree gave all-round support to the contestants, from the guidance of LED design skills, to the provision of LED components, to the sponsorship of physical production funds and the award-winning works. At the same time, the organizing committee of the competition also received enthusiastic attention and support from all walks of life in this competition.

The final entries were exhibited at the China International Hotel and Architectural Lighting Exhibition.

Fan Wai: Introduction to the works of the homepage picture

Recently, Xiao Bian was interested in bicycles, so he put the picture of the third-class award on the photo frame of Top News on the homepage of the website. This work is from Li Xin, a student of Tongji University. The work name is Lune. It is taken from the French word “moon” and its shape and luminous effect resemble the moon.

This is a vigilant, fun, and beautiful lighting fixture for night-time bicycles. It is mounted above the bicycle fender. The built-in LED bulbs emit different colors of light through the speed of the bicycle: when the bicycle When the speed is too fast, the LED emits a red light to alert people in the dark. When the speed of the bicycle is moderate, it emits a yellow light to remind you that when the speed is slow, it emits green light to show safety. The power generation energy is converted into electrical energy by the mechanical energy of the rotation of the bicycle wheel. It is suitable for all types of bicycles. It is a completely independent lamp with the bicycle. Users can install it directly on the bicycle, which is easy to install and easy to use.

(Editor's comment: Does the author's functional arrangement of R, G, and B colors contradict the current bus regulations? How to achieve speed monitoring and power generation?)

What is a Rigid Flex PCB?

Rigid flex printed circuit boards are boards using a combination of flexible and rigid board technologies in an application. Most rigid flex boards consist of multiple layers of flexible circuit substrates attached to one or more rigid boards externally and/or internally, depending upon the design of the application. The flexible substrates are designed to be in a constant state of flex and are usually formed into the flexed curve during manufacturing or installation.

Rigid flex designs are more challenging than the design of a typical rigid board environment, as these boards are designed in a 3D space, which also offers greater spatial efficiency. By being able to design in three dimensions rigid flex designers can twist, fold and roll the flexible board substrates to achieve their desired shape for the final application's package.

Benefits:
More components in a smaller space
Improved signal quality and integrity
Easy to test
Very reliable in harsh environment
Reduces system costs
Weight reduction

Our expertise – your profit!

The circuit board is no longer thought of as simply something to hold other elements. In fact, it is part of the system and offers a diverse range of options to integrate different functions. We want to support our customers as early on in the development process as possible so that they can get the most out of our wide-ranging expertise. In this way we can succeed in finding the perfect solution for the specific situation whilst keeping an overview of the entire system.
