DisplayPort-based solution for multi-screen display

The DisplayPort interface standard is approved by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) and is designed to provide an open and extensible standard for the entire industry. The development of DisplayPort can reduce platform costs and promote a common digital interface across PC platforms and components. DisplayPort facilitates the transmission of high-definition digital audio and digital video signals to display devices through the same cable, and enables true plug-and-play functionality with strong interoperability.

IDT has launched the industry's first VESA-based DisplayPort controller that can achieve full HD multi-display capability without additional graphics cards. The IDT PanelPort ViewXpand solution can be built into laptops, docking stations, standalone adapters, or DisplayPort-compatible monitors, helping OEMs to flexibly customize the multi-monitor experience for their customers (Figure).

The plug-and-play configuration of the IDT PanelPort ViewXpand solution enables users to enjoy multiple displays with one digital output port for each application.

According to IDT experts, the plug-and-play configuration of the IDT PanelPort ViewXpand solution enables users to enjoy multiple displays using one digital output port for each application, including gaming, home entertainment, industrial design, graphic design, or spreadsheet analysis Etc. It is also particularly suitable for the wide application of digital signage in the current market. At the same time, customers can also choose a dedicated display for a single application. In addition, IDT ViewXpand devices are fully compatible with HD, and provide complete display performance and zero latency, and there are no limitations for display applications. The ViewXpand solution does not require any system software upgrades or any Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) testing and certification. It provides end-users with ease of use and helps original equipment manufacturers achieve faster time-to-market.

It is understood that the IDT VMM1300 application software can be configured to run in hub or daisy-chain mode, providing greater flexibility. In hub mode, the VMM1300 supports three DisplayPort outputs, which can be displayed on up to three displays. In daisy chain mode, the ViewXpand device supports the connection of downstream devices (for example, another VMM1300) to form a daisy chain display compatible with the current DisplayPort standard. For ease of use, the VMM1300 can automatically detect the number of connected monitors and adjust the resolution accordingly. There is no change on the source device, so true plug and play operations are supported.

IDT PanelPort devices are fully compatible with the DisplayPort 1.1a standard. In addition, the device supports a full video interface and has built-in HDCP1.3 content protection, which can play Blu-ray and DVD movies. The device is also the lowest power multi-monitor solution on the market. When used as a pure DisplayPort adapter, no additional power supply or external AC adapter is required. In short, PanelPort ViewXpand is a device that provides multi-display capability without increasing power consumption or affecting the performance of the host device.

IDT experts said that multiple displays can fundamentally improve production efficiency and improve the user experience. When you promote a desktop or consumer platform on two or more screens, you can see more content, switch windows less, make more informed decisions, and complete more work in less time, usually There is a more perfect user experience. This product can be mass produced in August this year.
