From bionic robots to humanoid robots: through the top ten fantasy technologies of the future

The Great Research Institute of the United States, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), has long been known for its leading and potentially valuable cutting-edge research projects, and some of its research projects have even been mistaken for science fiction. . Since the research bureau is headed by the US Department of Defense, it is mainly engaged in the research, development and application of high-tech projects in the military field.

For more than 40 years, DARPA has been playing the role of the US military's high-tech and technological innovation “incubator” because of its forward-looking exploration concept and unique operating mechanism. It has cultivated many sophisticated weapons and equipment for the US military. The United States has accumulated a strong reserve of scientific and technological resources, leading the trend of high-tech research and development in the United States and the world. The American Fun Science website recently listed the top 10 cool technologies that the project bureau has been and is currently working on.

"Wild Cat" Robot and "Big Dog" Robot: Porter

As the name implies, the Wildcat robot and the Big Dog robot are four-legged, headless robots. The scientists were originally designed to make them human porters carrying heavy objects through potentially dangerous areas. DARPA authorized the Boston Dynamics Company to develop these two robots, which were created by scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to develop robots that move like animals.

The "big dog" robot was developed in 2005. The robot dog is 1 meter long, 70 centimeters high and weighs 75 kilograms. From the appearance, it is basically equivalent to a real big dog. The "big dog" robot can travel at speeds of up to 7 km/h. It can not only walk and run, but also climb a 35-degree slope and carry about 181 kg of weapons and other substances. The robot is expected to play a very important role on the battlefield: transporting ammunition, food and other items to soldiers in areas with limited access.

The "big dog" robot is internally equipped with a computer that adjusts the travel posture according to changes in the environment. A large number of sensors ensure that operators can track the location of the "big dog" in real time and monitor its system status.

According to the US "Popular Science" website, DARPA recently awarded Boston Power Company a contract worth US$10 million. According to the contract, the "big dog" robot should start participating in relevant military exercises in 2015. To reduce the risk to combat combatants, DARPA asked Boston Dynamics to design and manufacture "big dog" robots with better silent performance and more ballistic performance.

With the continuous development of the "big dog" robot, the US Marine Corps has planned to test this type of robot in November this year. The robots tested by the Marine Corps can walk 11 to 13 kilometers per hour, just following the footsteps of the Marines and being as quiet as soldiers.

In comparison, the four-legged robot, the Wildcat, which Boston Dynamics just released in October this year, is lightweight and quick-moving. The company explained: "'Wild Cat' is a four-legged robot that can run quickly on a variety of terrains. So far, it has been able to jump and run on flat ground at speeds of up to 26 kilometers per hour." The robot is expected to be a good helper for the soldiers to complete different ground missions.

FR-4 epoxy glass fiber cloth substrate is a kind of substrate with epoxy resin as the adhesive and electronic grade glass fiber cloth as the reinforcing material. Its adhesive sheet and inner core thin copper-clad board are important base materials for making multilayer printed circuit boards.
The epoxy glass fiber cloth substrate has higher mechanical properties, dimensional stability, impact resistance, and moisture resistance than paper substrates. Its electrical performance is excellent, its working temperature is high, and its performance is less affected by the environment. In terms of processing technology, it has great advantages over glass fiber cloth substrates made of other resins. This type of product is mainly used for double-sided PCBs and is used in large quantities.
