A wireless AP can theoretically connect to 254 computers, because different SSIDs are set (wep passwords can also be set), which can prevent someone from maliciously hacking into our account. â‘ Test signal strength. If you can ping the access point from the wired client but not from the wireless client, the access point may have a problem. You can use the function of measuring the signal strength provided by the wireless AP program to check the signal strength. If it is too weak, the wireless AP may have quality problems. If it is caused by a poor signal state (the signal state can be detected with the accompanying software of "Wireless Network Connection" or "Wireless Access Point" of Windows XP).
When using Windows XP, as long as you click the network connection icon in the task bar, a window showing the connection status will be displayed. If it shows that there are 4 or 5 green wires, if there are only 1 or 2 wires, it can be concluded that the signal status is not good. You can adjust the placement of the AP and wireless network card and the angle of the antenna to achieve the best signal strength.
â‘¡ Try to change the channel. If you suddenly find that your wireless AP signal is weak, but you have not made any physical changes. You can try to change the channel of the access point and a wireless user or you can try to add an external antenna and other methods to see if this can enhance the signal. Because some new wireless phones (or microwave ovens, etc.) also operate on the 2.4GHz frequency (using the same frequency as the 802.11b wireless network), this may interfere with your wireless network.
③ Check the SSID configuration. When you join other wireless networks, you must not forget to change the SSID (Service Set IdenTIfier) ​​configuration. If the SSID configuration is not correct, you will not be able to ping the access point, and you will not be able to connect to the network.
â‘£Check the WEP key. Many wireless network configuration problems are related to the WEP protocol. Solving the WEP problem requires special care. In addition, for WEP to work, the configuration of both the access point and the client must be correct. The configuration of some clients seems to be no problem, but it is impossible to use WEP to communicate with the access point. In this case, you can restart the access point, restore the default value, and then re-configure WEP, then WEP can used.
⑤ Right-click the wireless network icon in the task bar. Select the "View Available Wireless Networks" command on the next menu, and you will see the wireless network connection dialog window. The dialog window displays the SSID of any wireless network that is on your current channel and you are not connected. If the name of your wireless network appears in this list, you are not connected to the network. If your connection is good, there may be a problem with your configuration. In addition, the WEP password (if any) needs to be entered correctly, otherwise you cannot connect to that wireless network.
