Taiwan LED packaging plant's February revenues both showed growth

In February 2010, Taiwanese LED chip maker Epistar and LED packaging manufacturers Everlight EL ectronics, Lite-On Technology and Harvatek saw significant year-on-year growth. The situation is mainly due to the strong demand for LED backlights (BLU) for LCD TVs.

According to market observers, Everlight Electronics plans to expand its monthly production capacity of SMD LEDs, which will increase to 13 billion units by the end of March and will increase to 17.5 billion units by the end of the second quarter. Sources estimate that Everlight's second-quarter revenue will increase by 15-20% from the previous quarter.
