LED will bring new markets to the PCB industry

In recent years, low carbon, energy saving and environmental protection have attracted more and more attention. The use of LED lighting is in line with the development trend and trend of energy saving. The LED is a light-emitting diode. It is not an energy-saving lamp or a fluorescent tube, but its brightness is 5-6 times that of an ordinary lamp. Because of this, LED lighting is becoming the trend of energy-saving lighting.

According to the EU regulations, starting from September 1, 2009, all supermarkets are not allowed to sell incandescent bulbs, nor can they sell high-voltage fluorescent bulbs, only LED lamps. Then, how is China developing in the next step? Is it still vigorously promoting energy-saving lamps, or is it actively developing LED lighting? To be honest, energy-saving lamps are not as energy-efficient as LEDs, and a large amount of mercury is used in the manufacturing process of energy-saving lamps. The impact of mercury on the human body and the environment is very large, especially the disposal of scrapped energy-saving lamps, which can cause great pollution to the environment.

The energy-saving effect of LED lighting is very obvious. According to relevant information, if China's LED lighting accounts for 1/3 of the entire lighting market, then the annual power generation of two Yangtze River Three Gorges hydropower stations can be saved.

At present, all countries in the world attach great importance to the development and utilization of LEDs. NEC has developed and marketed a new type of LED bulb, which is similar in shape to the current incandescent bulbs and is rapidly spreading to ordinary households. AT&S, Austria, a world-renowned printed circuit board manufacturer, is actively developing printed circuit boards for LEDs and intends to use this type of printed circuit board as a pillar of the future. Matsushita Electric has developed CEM-3 CCL for high heat dissipation performance for LEDs 2 to 3 years ago and has been shown on CPCA SHOW.

The Korean government is currently implementing a plan to replace street lights with LED lighting. KPCA, the Korean electronic circuit industry association, has taken the lead in standardizing printed circuit boards for LEDs in the world, and established a working group for printed circuit boards for LEDs. It is working hard to develop this standard and promote the standardization of printed circuit boards for LEDs.

The Japan Electronic Circuit Industry Association (JPCA) has released the JPCA-TMC-LED01S high-brightness LED electronic circuit board standard and the JPCA-TMC-LED02T high-brightness LED electronic circuit board test method developed by the association this year.

LED printed circuit boards are not what some of us think are only metal-based (aluminum-based) copper-clad PCBs, but according to different uses, some use general FR-4, FR-5, CEM-3, scratch Polyimide plates, some use resin substrates with heat-dissipating vias, high-heat-transfer resin substrates, and some use metal-based substrates, metal core substrates, ceramic substrates.

We have been talking about product structure adjustment, LED energy-saving characteristics, will inevitably become a very important industry in China. LED lighting has a wide range of uses and a huge market, which will not only have a huge impact on China's energy conservation and consumption reduction, but also will provide a huge market for our printed circuit industry.
