iSuppli: 2010 LED-backlit LCD TV panel shipments will increase by 5 times
Science and technology market research institute iSuppli published a research report on the 29th, pointing out that thanks to rising demand, mainstream market conversion to large-size models, high-priced panel sales, and improved production efficiency, it is expected that today (2010) global large-size LCD TV panels will be out. The value of the goods will climb 40% from $35.2 billion in 2009 to $49.2 billion, far better than the 5.2% decline during 2008-2009. The agency pointed out that the gross profit margin of the 32-inch LCD TV panel is expected to continue to improve in 2010, and is expected to reach 25% in the fourth quarter of 2010. The gross margin of the 32-inch LCD TV panel fell to zero in Q3 in 2008, and fell to -23%, -31% and -12% in Q4 in Q4 and Q1 in 2009, Q2 in 2009.

   iSuppli expects that global LED-backlit LCD TV panel shipments will increase by more than 5 times to 25.4 million in 2010 from 4.8 million in 2009. In the fourth quarter of 2010, 25% of LCD TV panels will use LED backlights.
   Sweta Dash, senior director of iSuppli's LCD panel research department, pointed out that high-priced panels generally have LED backlights, high-resolution (full HD) and 120-240Hz refresh rate. In addition, TV manufacturers plan to focus on 3D functions in 2010, which will also lead to an increase in the popularity of LCD panels with higher update frequency. On the supply side, the increase in production efficiency of panel manufacturers above 8.5 generations will make the price of large-size LCD TVs more amiable, while the reduction in the number of components of LCD TV panels will reduce the cost of suppliers.
