BBQ repair for a Changhong LCD TV model LT26610 with a damaged screen
The TV was brought in by a hotel we work with. It's common for the master identification screens to be stored in a small dark room. When I checked it, the TV had sound but no image — the screen showed a bright gray color with horizontal lines. The screen is integrated with the logic board, so it’s hard to isolate the issue. I found that after applying 25V to the VGH filter IC, there was no output. Measuring the resistance of VGH while the IC was on showed instability. After disconnecting the current limiting resistor connected to VGH, the IC output voltage fluctuated between 22V. This suggests the edge board is not the problem. The resistance might be coming from inside the screen or from the connector.
In recent years, I’ve done several barbecue repairs, including some open circuit cases where I used jumper solutions. I haven’t encountered any internal short circuits yet. If the small unit burns out, it’s easier to just replace the screen or scrap it. I tried powering the screen with 12V, 15V, 17V, and even 20V, but there was no response. I didn’t check the ammeter, but I noticed a slight spark at the screen’s connector — I wish I had caught the full discharge. After measuring the resistance from VGH to ground, it returned to normal (hundreds of kiloohms). Then I analyzed the line and found that the VGH line was leaking. I applied a drop of insulating paint and then tested it again. The result confirmed that the cable was leaking.
