Each cable core and sheath of the power cable have a large capacitance. Therefore, for the measurement of the insulation resistance of the power cable, the power supply and load of the cable should be disconnected first and then fully discharged, and the measurement should generally be carried out under dry climatic conditions. The measurement steps are as follows.
(1) Determine the indoor temperature before measurement and check if the pointer of the megohmmeter is normal.
(2) Check whether the technical specifications of the megohmmeter are appropriate according to the rated voltage of the power cable.
(3) For the measuring wire of the megohmmeter, an insulated wire with a shielded wire should be used.
(4) When measuring the three-phase three-wire armored power cable, the measurement is performed at one end of the cable, and the other end must be monitored by a person.
(5) Connect the cable armor or terminal grounding wire to the two cable cores separately, and connect it to the 'E' end of the megohmmeter. The other core wire is temporarily disconnected. When the speed reaches 120r/min, the pointer of the table indicates the position of “∞”, and then the cable core of the test is connected to the “L” end of the megger. At this time, the pointer of the megohmmeter may return to zero, but The crank should continue to be rotated, and the pointer will slowly deflect toward the "∞" direction of the scale with the extension of time. When the pointer is stable at a certain position, the reading starts and is recorded.
(6) After obtaining the measurement result, first remove the connecting wire of the cable core wire, stop shaking the Megohmmeter handle, and immediately discharge the cable core wire, and then measure the insulation resistance of the other phase core wire of the cable.
(7) After the measurement is completed, the worker should not approach the cable core wire that has not been fully discharged to prevent electric shock.
