Sharp sued: Hisense has responded

Recently, OFweek Smart Home Network News reported that Sharp, through its official website in Taiwan, announced it had filed another lawsuit against Hisense in the U.S., accusing the Chinese company of infringing on its smart TV patents. This comes shortly after Sharp initiated a similar lawsuit in Los Angeles. In 2015, Sharp, which was struggling financially at the time, handed over the management of its North American operations to Hisense. During this period, Sharp TVs began to lose market share. After Foxconn acquired Sharp in 2016, they sought to reclaim the Sharp brand from Hisense using various pressures and excuses. According to reports, Dai Zheng, the president of Sharp Taiwan, stated that under Foxconn's support, Sharp would take "disruptive" actions to push Hisense out of the market. Filing a patent infringement lawsuit is an extension of these aggressive strategies. Experts have pointed out that regardless of the outcome, Sharp’s continuous lawsuits in the U.S. aim to damage Hisense's brand reputation, hoping to force them into submission. However, the recent arbitration decision by the Singapore International Arbitration Center in May did not support Sharp's claims, neither legally nor morally. Following this, Sharp decided to explore alternative approaches. When contacted, the media reached out to Hisense Group's branding department, and the news was verified. However, the head of the branding department declined to comment. A person close to Hisense mentioned that Chairman Zhou Sheng adheres to the principle of "never complain, but never fear." Hisense remains undeterred by such patent litigation and is committed to defending its rights and integrity through legitimate means. This "Hai Xia War," involving the interests of both Chinese and Taiwanese-Japanese companies, has sparked significant attention and heated discussions online. Many users are closely following the developments, as this conflict highlights broader tensions between global and regional players in the tech industry.
