New white LED variable car headlights come out...
In the "AT International 2008" (July 23 to 25, Makuhari Messe Convention and Exhibition Center), the city's optical industry exhibited a light-distributing variable headlight (AFS) using white LEDs to control the illumination angle independently.
The single-head headlights of the new headlamps consist of two fixed components and one rotating assembly. Both the fixed and rotating components are equipped with white LEDs. The fixed component is a projection ceremony, and the rotating component can be rotated by a stepping motor. The white LEDs for each component use four LED chips. The rotating assembly employs a structure that reflects light from the white LED twice to illuminate the front. The total luminous flux of the headlamps is the same as that of the HID lamps, reaching 12,000 lm. The luminous efficiency of the LED is about 100 lm/W.
At present, the power consumption of the headlamps is almost the same as that of the HID lamps, ranging from 35W to 40W. City Light Industry "will further improve the LED luminous efficiency in the future, and strive to achieve lower power consumption than HID lamps" (the company's commentator).
The new headlamps can change the light distribution mode according to driving conditions such as straight travel, turn, highway, urban area and weather. For example, not only the control in front of the illumination curve can be performed during cornering, but also the optical axis of the rotating assembly can be slightly adjusted upward on the highway, and the LED output power can be increased to improve the visibility in the distance. In addition, when driving in urban areas, the left and right rotating components can be turned to the side, the irradiation side belt, or the left shoulder can be illuminated during heavy rain to improve the visibility of the guardrail and the roadside lane.
