HTC will release a new VR product in January?
2016 is coming to an end, and this year is not disappointing. The main headphones are already on the market, and a large number of VR games are being launched. HTC has just released a picture (below) with a single logo "For U" and the date is January 12, 2017. This will be the date the company announces the next important news, and everyone can only guess at the moment.
HTC has a lot of business interest around the world, but most consumers know about its smartphone brand and the recent HTC Vive heads. If the message is related to VR, this could be a new Vive head-up or controller, because Valve has demonstrated the prototype of the new controller in October. It is even possible to include both.
There is another possibility, HTC may launch a mobile VR headset on January 12, similar to Samsung Gear VR or Google Daydream View. As early as March of this year, HTC said that they were already researching mobile VR head-end products.
VR industry insiders seem to agree that mobile VR, which provides a powerful, wireless experience, is the future of virtual reality technology, but the technology currently lacks spatial location tracking. It wouldn't be surprising if HTC developed a cheap, yet market-friendly mobile headline. In addition, if the mobile head is dedicated to HTC smartphones, it may help HTC's business in this area.
