GLII: Market data in Taiwan in the first quarter is generally good
The above data shows that in the first quarter of this year, the overall situation of the LED market in Taiwan was better than the same period last year.
6 sapphire manufacturers' revenue increased by 15% year-on-year
After a wave of industry consolidation last year, there are currently about 11 LED sapphire manufacturers in Taiwan, and Xinjing Diamond, Jingmei Application, and Zhaoyuan Technology have occupied the first market share.
In the first quarter, Taiwan's sapphire manufacturers still sell flat sapphire substrates. As the price of sapphire ingots and flat substrates remained low in the first quarter, the growth of sapphire manufacturers did not increase significantly due to the slow growth in market demand.
Among them, Zhaoyuan Technology achieved revenue of RMB 87 million in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 7%. Jingmei applied revenue of RMB 85 million in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 19%. In the first quarter, Xinjing Diamond only achieved revenue of 63 million yuan, a year-on-year decline of 18%.
Benefiting from the continuous growth of PSS demand, the performance of Ruijie Technology, which focuses on PSS, has maintained rapid growth. In the first quarter, Ruijie Technology achieved revenue of RMB 53 million, a year-on-year increase of 131%. With the help of PSS business, Ruijie Technology can be said to be in the future, and the revenue gap between the top three sapphire manufacturers is narrowing, and the profit level is much higher than the above manufacturers.
In addition to the above-mentioned enterprises, Jingjing Optoelectronics, Jiajing Technology's revenue in the first quarter has increased by 28% and 24% respectively. Overall, the total revenue of the six sapphire manufacturers in the first quarter was 639 million yuan, an increase of 15%.
At present, the prices of ingots and flat sapphire substrates tend to be stable, and prices are difficult to increase in the short term. In order to improve profitability, sapphire manufacturers in Taiwan are actively increasing the proportion of PSS shipments.
However, with the release of PSS production capacity, the price of PSS also showed a rapid decline. Affected by this, Taiwan's sapphire manufacturers still face considerable pressure on their operations this year. Manufacturers with a higher proportion of PSS sapphire substrate revenues have higher revenue pressures.
9 chip makers' revenue decreased by 6% year-on-year
From the revenue data in the first quarter of this year, the nine LED chip manufacturers in Taiwan achieved revenue of about 1.87 billion yuan, down 6% year-on-year, of which 6 revenues fell last year.
Among them, Keli Optoelectronics recorded the largest year-on-year decline in revenue among the nine manufacturers, down 65% year-on-year. In the first quarter, the company achieved revenue of 195 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 13%.
In terms of growth, the three companies of Jingdian, New Century and Guangyu increased year-on-year, with growth rates of 2%, 19% and 1% respectively.
The High-Tech LED Industry Research Institute (GLII) believes that the price of trapped LED chips continues to decline, and many LED chip manufacturers in Taiwan are still in the process of increasing revenue.
GLII expects that global LED chip prices will stabilize in 2013, which will help the LED chip makers in Taiwan to improve their gross margin. At the same time, LED chip demand will continue to pick up with the rapid growth of the downstream lighting application market. LED chip manufacturers are expected to improve profitability this year.
14 package manufacturers' revenue increased by 16% year-on-year
In the first quarter of this year, among the 14 LED packaging manufacturers, the revenues of 10 manufacturers including Yiguang, Ronda and Dongbei increased year-on-year. Among them, Yiguang achieved revenue of 1.027 billion yuan in the first quarter, up 18% year-on-year; Longda achieved revenue of 595 million yuan in the first quarter, up 31% year-on-year; Dongbei, LED lighting backlight orders continued to heat up, revenue continued to keep fast Growth, first quarter revenue was 346 million yuan, an increase of 56%.
In terms of revenue decline, Shunhong, Edison, Huaxing and Hongkai decreased by 26%, 28%, 4% and 12% respectively. Overall data shows that in the first quarter of this year, 14 LED packaging manufacturers in Taiwan achieved revenues of approximately 2.728 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16%.
The High-Tech LED Industry Research Institute (GLII) believes that the main driving force behind the growth of LED packaging manufacturers in Taiwan in the short term is still from the backlight. However, considering that China's packaging manufacturers will open more capacity this year, they will further rush to the original market share of LED packaging manufacturers in Taiwan. GLII believes that in 2013, LED packaging manufacturers in Taiwan will face significant pressure to improve their profitability.
