Tyco Electronics Introduces New LED Connectors

Recently, Tyco Electronics announced a new line-to-board plug connector and board-to-board connector, further enriching the series of non-polar plug and socket connectors. Designed for connection to aluminum-clad printed circuit boards, the connector is designed for applications such as lighting control and LED lighting modules, making assembly quicker and easier.

The new plug connector is available in 18-22AWG (0.3 to 0.9 mm2) multi-strand diameters with crimped tin-plated copper terminations and a 94V-0 flame-retardant thermoplastic housing. The plug connector works with the header connector and provides active locking for a secure connection.

According to Alexander Hunt III, Tyco Electronics Product Manager, "With the continued rapid development of LED lighting applications, manufacturers are committed to continually developing lighting system solutions with lower installation and maintenance costs. The non-polar plug and socket connections introduced this time. The addition of wire-to-board functionality provides customers with a complete connectivity solution that allows them to connect lighting modules quickly and flexibly."

A small-designed board-end connector with a non-polar blade and socket design provides a more flexible LED printed circuit board mounting style than traditional polar designs. The new connector can be connected by sliding the two boards together horizontally or vertically. The unique vertical sliding connection design makes it easier to replace the board in the middle of the string, simply by lifting the board to be replaced and placing it in a new board.

The board-end connectors in this series can be used for both board-to-board and wire-to-board connections. The advantage of using a non-polar design is that the customer only needs to reserve a product for the board end application, which greatly reduces the inventory complexity and simplifies the design by requiring the board end to be designed in the same structure. The terminal reel type is packaged for high speed termination equipment operation.

This connector supports 2, 4, and 6 holes. The rated voltage is AC and DC 125V and the rated current is 6 amps. Operating temperature range is -40 ° C to +105 ° C. And passed the UL/cUL certification of No.E28476 document.
