Regarding 5G, major manufacturers have begun to strengthen the layout.

According to the Qualcomm report, by 2035, China's 5G value chain will generate 984 billion US dollars of output, and the global 5G value chain will create 3.5 trillion US dollars of output value. China's 5G value chain will create 9.5 million jobs, and the global 5G value chain will create 22 million jobs.

China will be an important pole in the development of global 5G, and it can be achieved in some key technologies. At present, 5G is still in the process of standard setting, and the development of the whole industry is still very uncertain. According to the law of network evolution and the current investment in 5G R&D, operators can be used as the source to outline a device manufacturer. China's 5G industry map composed of chip companies, terminal companies, test companies, antenna companies, and industry application companies.

Regarding 5G, major manufacturers have begun to strengthen the layout.

Policy: Developed a clear 5G roadmap

In January 2016, China officially launched the 5G technology research and development test, which is also seen as the beginning of China's 5G development cycle. China's 5G technology research and development test is under the leadership of the government, relying on the national science and technology major projects, the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group is responsible for implementation.

China's 5G technology R&D test has received much attention. The biggest reason is that it faces the future 5G market, where there is the best technology and industry incubation environment. From the beginning of 3G technology testing to the testing of 4G and 5G, China's mobile communication industry has formed a high-efficiency iterative R&D rhythm. The enterprise technology of the whole technology test is becoming more and more full, and the big market drives big innovation. Great innovation drives the development of large industries.

The main goal of China's 5G test is to support the formulation of 5G international standards, promote 5G R&D and industrial development, and promote the formation of global 5G technology standards. According to the overall plan, China's 5G technology research and development test will be carried out in 2016~2018, divided into 5G key technology test, 5G technical solution verification and 5G system verification. From 2018 to 2020, product development tests will be carried out, and the trials will be led by operators.

The first phase of testing from 2016 to 2018 has been completed in September 2016. The testing of key technologies on the wireless side is mainly for the coding and multiple access technologies of 5G new air interface and the MASSIVE MIMO technology for improving the 5G spectrum utilization. The network-side key technology test mainly covers four parts: control and bearer separation, network function reconstruction, end-to-end network slicing and mobile edge computing technology. 5G tag-type business scenario requirements such as high-rate (single-user throughput greater than 10 Gbps), low latency (less than 0.1 milliseconds), and large connections (greater than 1 million connections), presenting existing network architectures and network element configurations A new challenge like never before.

The second phase of China's 5G technology R&D test began in September 2016. This phase of the test set up a unified test platform, unified frequency, unified equipment and test specifications, targeting different application scenarios for 5G mobile Internet and IoT. The technical solution is verified. At the same time, this stage actively guides the participation of chips and instrument manufacturers to carry out the docking test of the industrial chain. The issuance of this test specification is the main measure for China to implement the test-driven technical standard formulation and product development to build a 5G industrial chain and innovation chain.

In the second phase of testing, Huawei, Ericsson, ZTE, Datang, Nokia and Shanghai Bell, Samsung and some chip and instrument companies. The test group consists of China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Ducomo and China Telecom. At present, Huairou in Beijing has planned the world's largest 5G test field, completed the site planning of 30 stations, and each equipment manufacturer built 5 base stations to meet the needs of field single station and networking performance testing. At the same time, Spreadtrum, MTK and other chip companies, Keysight, Rohde Schwartz, Datang Lianyi, Xinghe Highlights and other instrument companies also participated in the test.

Operator: China Mobile is the industry leader

For 5G technology, the three major telecom operators in China attach great importance to it. At the “5G and Future Network Strategy Seminar” held on April 28th, the three major operators announced their own 5G test situation and next steps. Huang Yuhong, deputy director of China Mobile Communications Co., Ltd., said that China Mobile's 5G system design is mainly considered from three aspects: one is unified and flexible 5G new air interface; the second is user-centered network; the third is service-oriented cloud Network.

At present, China Mobile has conducted 5G field tests in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. In Beijing Huairou Outfield, China Mobile has completed 30 site planning to meet the performance requirements of the outfield networking of six system vendors; in Shanghai Pudong, China Mobile has carried out a continuous network of 5G C-Band 5 stations in dense urban areas; Guangzhou Panyu, initially selected 7 sites as an alternative test area.

Tang Xiongyan, chief expert of China Unicom Network Technology Research Institute, said that China Unicom will take the lead in carrying out corresponding 5G experiments in several cities in the past two years, including technical verification and equipment testing, and gradually expand the scale, hoping to achieve a certain degree in 2020. Scale 5G commercial. China Unicom will promote 5G technology verification in three phases to meet 5G commercial needs: First, the system prototype verification phase from 2017 to 2018 will verify the overall capability of the 5G pre-commercial prototype. Second, the 2018 to 2019 scale field verification phase, verify 5G commercial capabilities and networking solutions. Third, from 2019 to 2020, during the commercial phase, the 5G scale deployment of more than 1,000 stations will be completed in key cities across the country, and 5G (trial) commercialization will be promoted.

Yang Fengyi, deputy director of China Telecom Technology Innovation Center, said that the overall plan for China Telecom's 5G deployment is from 2016 to 2018, completing network architecture and key technology research and proof of concept, and proposing 4G to 5G evolution technology solutions and conducting some key technology experiments. Room test and field test. In 2019, a number of pre-commercial networks will be built, and the goal of 5G commercialization will be achieved by 2020. From 2020 to 2025, in accordance with the CTNet2025 network development goals, the follow-up technology evolution of 5G networks will continue. The focus of China Telecom's 5G work is to unify the test and verification environment and build a joint innovation platform. The main focus is on three points: one is the complete laboratory test environment; the other is to establish in-depth cooperation with the industry chain and the vertical industry; the third is the evaluation of key technologies and prototype tests.

At present, China Mobile has stronger industrial guidance capability in the development of 5G, and is one of the leading units of China's IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group. China Mobile's goal is to achieve 5G commercialization by 2020. To this end, China Mobile is taking multiple measures to promote the industry's maturity.

First, deep participation in standard setting. China Mobile itself has many innovative ideas and solutions for 5G technology and standards. At present, China Mobile is the chairman of the RAN Plenary and RAN organization in 3GPP, and also leads some projects. China Mobile has applied for more than 400 patents, published corresponding papers in international journals, and wrote China Mobile's 5G technology concept into international standards.

The second is to actively promote the 5G test. China Mobile is actively participating in the 5G key technology testing and verification work organized by the Chinese government, and is also organizing field trials for commercial use.

The third is to release the system prototype proposal. In order to better guide the industry, China Mobile has released a 5G 3.5GHZ frequency system prototype proposal, including test guidance. The purpose is to hope that the industry chain partners can clearly know what kind of 5G products operators need.

China Mobile released the guidance document for the 3.5GHZ frequency band. One of the most important signals is that China Mobile believes that 5G wants to really enter thousands of households, or to start from 5G low frequency. At present, China's 5G technology research and test is using 3.5GHZ for testing. This is very different from some US and South Korean operators. They use the high-band-millimeter wave band to develop 5G broadband access, and will implement it in the 5G non-independent networking mode. Chinese industry believes that it is unlikely to use large frequency bands to achieve large-scale networking.

China Mobile put forward end-to-end requirements in the proposal, including wireless networks, 5G terminals, transport networks and core networks. China Mobile believes that if we want 5G to truly face the future, we must have a brand new core network. In the proposal, China Mobile hopes that the uplink transmit power of 5G terminals will be further improved, and it can support both independent networking and non-independent networking.

Fourth, in order to allow 5G development to unite more power, China Mobile established the 5G Joint Innovation Center. Focus on basic communication capabilities, Internet of Things, Internet of Vehicles, Industrial Internet, cloud robots, virtual/augmented reality, and jointly promote the development of 5G with 68 partners.

The fifth is to give full play to the role of GTI and push China Mobile 5G to the international platform. GTI is a TD-LTE platform for international development jointly created by China Mobile's global operators and partners. In the future, GTI will continue to promote the evolution and commercial deployment of TD-LTE technology, and will also lead the development of 5G in the frequency band below 6GHz, and build a new ecosystem of 5G industry worldwide.
