Shengshi is proud to host the 54th World Hardware Conference, which took place in Shanghai on October 20th under the theme "The Development Direction of Hardware Production and Circulation in the Internet Era." This marks the second time that China has hosted the global event since it was first held in the country in 2006. The conference brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the world to discuss the future of hardware production and its role in the digital age.
During the opening ceremony, Shen Shilan, Chairman of the 54th World Hardware Conference and President of the China National Hardware Association, emphasized the importance of the event in the context of China’s economic growth and the transformation of its manufacturing sector. “This conference provides an opportunity to showcase the new image and achievements of the Chinese hardware industry to the world,†he said.
The conference featured high-level participation, including Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, and Zhang Chonghe, President of the China Light Industry Association, who served as honorary chairmen. Delegates from seven countries, including the United States, Germany, France, the UK, Australia, and Sweden, attended the event, highlighting the global significance of the gathering.
Keynote speeches covered a wide range of topics, from macroeconomic trends and retail market developments to corporate culture and the role of the internet in shaping the future of hardware. Representatives from eight IHA member countries presented their national strategies and engaged in discussions on the future of the global hardware industry.
In addition to the conference, attendees had the opportunity to visit the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's exhibition and the 2017 China International Hardware Exhibition and China International Kitchen Expo. These events provided a platform for companies to showcase their latest innovations, including smart home technologies, robotics, and advanced manufacturing solutions.
Founded in 1909, the International Hardware Association (IHA) has been holding the World Hardware Conference every two years, rotating among member countries. China joined the association in 2000, marking a significant milestone in the global hardware industry. Since then, China's rapid development has made it a key player on the world stage.
Shi Lanlan, a prominent figure in the hardware industry, noted that hosting the conference again demonstrates China’s growing influence and its progress toward becoming a leading manufacturing power. “With policies like 'Made in China 2025,' the industry is moving toward intelligent and high-quality development,†she said.
Recent data shows impressive growth in China’s hardware sector, with annual output exceeding 1.5 trillion yuan in 2016. In the first half of 2017, exports increased by 12.3%, while imports rose by 5.4%. These figures reflect the industry’s strong performance and global competitiveness.
The China International Hardware Show (CIHS) and the China International Kitchen Expo (CIKB), held concurrently with the conference, attracted thousands of visitors and exhibitors. Companies like Haier, Wanjiale, and ASD showcased cutting-edge products such as smart kitchens, electric baths, and energy-efficient heating systems, drawing international attention.
The event also focused on standardization efforts, with the release of the second batch of Chinese home hardware group standards. These standards exceeded EU benchmarks in several areas, setting a new benchmark for quality and innovation in the industry.
Overall, the 54th World Hardware Conference highlighted China’s rising prominence in the global hardware landscape and its commitment to driving technological advancement and industrial excellence.
