For connectivity, the 58DX802 is equipped with four HDMI interfaces on the back, two of which are compatible with 60/50Hz 4K video playback and HDCP 2.2 protocol, supporting 4K signal transmission. At the same time 58DX802 built-in Wi-Fi connection function, you can access the resources on the network or Panasonic online services, and three USB ports can be connected to external storage devices, Freeview tuner, and USB hard drives.

The 58DX802's smart system is basically the same as the 2015 Panasonic TV Firefox system, but Panasonic apparently further optimized the system. In fact, due to the effect of the edge backlighting, a maximum brightness of less than 1000 nits is considered a sensible move, so that a precise balance between the backlight and the black level can be achieved.

In terms of color and contrast, the 58DX802 can also achieve HDR effects in 3D playback. Currently, in all new television products, there are not many 3D-enabled devices. New products including Samsung and Philips have all given up on 3D features, but Panasonic is still equipped with active 3D display technology for the 58DX802 and is equipped with glasses.

Settings

The 58DX802 Setup Wizard makes it easy to complete the basic setup. The demonstration of the built-in Firefox system allows you to get started immediately, basically without much difficulty. If you want to get the best picture display, it's still a complicated process. The optimization of HDR mode and the adjustment of screen parameters have become a challenge for ordinary users.

Here we suggest that you only need to adjust the 58DX802 preset mode is sufficient, especially in the backlight and contrast, basically do not need too much adjustment.

Each of the preset modes provides a different HDR experience, and from my personal perspective, the cinema mode and the normal mode are the two most commonly used. Facts have proved that Panasonic engineers have a good understanding of the color of HDR images. The default mode will make the colors more vivid, while the movie mode will increase the color saturation, which is very popular with movie lovers.

In addition to choosing your favorite preset mode, there are various other settings that you can adjust. The most complicated is the overall adjustment of the TV backlight, which can hardly achieve a perfect HDR effect.

My personal opinion is that if you want the best HDR effect, turn off the adaptive backlight and set it to 88 or so. The contrast ratio is 95. When the HDR standard dynamically appears, the process is much simpler. If the backlight is adjusted to less than 50%, the problem of low brightness can be solved.

Quality
Some televisions always have some deficiencies in the processing of shadow effects, but the 58DX802 does not have this problem. It has strong control over the dark places. This is the first place that makes people feel impressive.

The overall tone of "House of Cards" is too dark to test the performance of television in the dark. Many LCD TVs have a complete mess when dealing with such scenes, but even on night scenes on Panasonic 58DX802 you can see the details of the trees, even the material of the clothes. This point has been highlighted by Panasonic as early as IFA 2015. Many people have noticed many details that they did not see after watching the “Dead Battle” episode.

There is no problem with 58DX802 showing shadow details. Then there is another extreme, high light environment. This can still be tested with the House of Cards, such as Robin Wright's scene in her office, where there are white walls, white lights, and white shirts. At this point, the overall performance of the 58DX802 is still good, and the materials with similar colors are clear, and you can see from the lights the effect of gradual change with distance.

Even so, the 58DX802 is inferior to the "black" when it is "white", and when the lights are on a certain level, you can no longer distinguish the changes.

What about the color performance? The color of this TV is also very beautiful. For 58DX802, it is a challenge to represent natural and true colors because it is easy to exaggerate. At this point, the 58DX802 performed quite well. Like the human elbows and cheekbones, where the comparative complexions are difficult to deal with, there is no problem.

Since it is a 4K TV, it certainly can not be forgotten. Although the 58DX802 is Panasonic's first 4K OLED TV, it is not exposed in this respect. 4K content is full of detailed and transparent images like other high-end products.

If you want to explain the obvious shortcomings, 58DX802's dynamic performance should be better. It is recommended that you set the dynamic processing option to "Minimum" because the screen appears to be muddy when it is completely turned off, and the screen is smoothed when it is set to "Highest".

Sound effects

Taking into account the ultra-thin body and design, 58DX802 audio sounded plausible. 58DX802 does not have any bass effect, and the mid-range sound is relatively clean. On the treble, 58DX802 is more detailed in the details. Both male and female voices can be clearly expressed.

Of course, if you can use an external speaker, it's naturally better, but if used for daily viewing, the 58DX802's sound effects are still acceptable.
