Lattice Technology Introduces Full Circuit Interface Six-Chip LED Driver Series

Introduction: Lattice Technology Co., Ltd. announced that it has been able to supply LDS8867, LDS8868 and LDS8869 product samples. By using its patented PowerLite? current regulator, the new series of LED driver in Lattice can be based on the charge pump. Achieve 95% performance and extend battery life. Lattice develops analog and mixed-signal semiconductor devices for consumer electronics products, including color display drivers, energy management, LED drivers and audio integrated circuits.

The latest LED drivers support up to six LEDs for portable backlighting applications and up to 32 mA per circuit. The new single-circuit interface product will be added to the previously announced non-voltage memory memory interface product, providing handset designers with more flexible new performance/interface options.

Lattice's ultra-low voltage regulated PowerLiteTM current regulator consumes a conversion voltage of only 50 millivolts, which lasts longer than other products. In addition, this patent-pending technology addresses the biggest problem with charge pump LED drivers, the high-performance state (1-fold mode) to lower-performance transitions. By reducing the voltage drop across the drive to 50 millivolts, battery life can be extended by 20%.

Introduction to LDS8869

The LDS8869 is a high-performance multi-mode boost mode fractional charge pump with an ultra-low voltage drop that can drive up to six LEDs. It includes a 1.33x boost mode fractional charge pump and an ultra low dropout PowerLiteTM current regulator for up to 95% performance. The 1.33x mode does not require an additional external capacitor. Its EN/SET logic input gives the chip and LED current control.

The highest LED current is 32 mA and can be adjusted from 0.5 mA to 32 mA. The boost mode charge pump supports input voltages from 2.7 volts to 5.5 volts. The device is available in a 16-pin TQFN package (3 mm x 3 mm) with a height of only 0.8 mm.
