Apple's next-generation tablet is widely speculated by the industry, and a report on Thursday said Apple may use a modified LED backlight to make the next-generation 9.7-inch tablet as thin as possible.
NPD DisplaySearch said it expects Apple's fifth-generation iPad to bring a more dazzling and efficient LED array and film-based touch sensor. Analyst Paul Semenza said, "To be thinner, it may take the scale of reducing LED backlighting and adopting a more efficient LED array design."
Apple redesigned the 9.7-inch iPad or borrowed elements from the current iPad mini. The design, which is said to be the next-generation iPad cover glass – is a thinner baffle and a more obvious modification of the size.
Speaking of display technology, Semenza said it is too early to switch to a more efficient IGZO panel.
