Dental clinic in Porto, Portugal
The construction space of this clinic is unconventional structure, the interior is narrow but has sufficient floor height, and the two large floor-to-ceiling glass are on the front and back sides.
Paulo Merlini created a white “roof†in the raised space of the reception and waiting area, which gives the patient a familiar feel and helps them calm down before treatment.
A series of luminaires are suspended in the “roofâ€, enriching the space with light and solving the lighting problems in the high space. The glass façade on the back of the clinic provides good natural light and this space is planned for the treatment room and work area.
The mirrored wall on the side of the stairs at the entrance creates an illusion by reflection, making the small space look more spacious.
A minimalist and elegant staircase leads the patient to the upstairs lounge, where the designer sets the window on the floor of the second floor, which reinforces the visual connection between the two floors and gives the second floor lounge Come to a perspective that overlooks the light.
From the perspective of the entrance to the clinic, the window of the second-floor waiting room is a very important element. Its position just attracts attention, and a slight upward movement allows the patient to naturally perceive the high space.
In the treatment room, where the patient's seat faces the vegetation outside the window, the designer hopes to use the external changes, even the wind-blown leaves to distract the patient's attention and reduce any unpleasant feelings caused by excessive focus on the treatment itself.
