Ningbo: Export lamps face US 337 investigation

The lighting industry in Ningbo faces new challenges: relevant US companies have recently applied for a “337” investigation on imported lighting products, prohibiting the allegedly infringing Chinese lighting products from entering the US market.

Recently, CooperLighting of the United States filed an application with the US International Trade Commission (ITC), alleging that the fixtures imported from China, California, Cordelia Lighting and Jim Way, infringed their patents, requiring ITC to issue a general exclusion order or Limited exclusion order. The Chinese customs code corresponding to the product involved is 94059900. ITC will decide whether to file a case on the 23rd of this month. A person from the Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau of Ningbo reminded that once ITC filed a case and made a positive ruling on the case, all suspected infringing luminaire products produced by Chinese companies may be banned from entering the US city of Ningbo, a lighting export enterprise, especially through the United States Cordelia Lighting Company. Companies that export products to the United States with Jim Way should pay close attention to the progress of the case and determine the response plan as soon as possible.
